Supporting Communities in Cox's Bazar

By Francis Noon | Individual Giving Manager

Thank you so much for your support of this project. I’m writing to share some updates from ActionAid’s  emergency response in Bangladesh. We appreciate you taking the time to learn about and act in response to this crisis.

Currently, there are over 900,000 Rohingya refugees still living in Bangladesh. Although Covid-19 cases are currently low, there has been an outbreak of Dengue Fever, a mosquito-borne viral infection.

That’s why community-led efforts to educate and prevent the spread of infections are so important. Although they have been out of the media spotlight, Rohingya refugees, especially women and girls, still need spaces where they can feel safe, empowered, and prepared to respond to situations in their communities.

Since 2017, ActionAid has been working in Cox’s Bazar, alongside Rohingya families, to meet their immediate short-term needs and deliver essential services. supported these Since then, we also developed longer-term programming like capacity building sessions for women and girls and men and boys, trainings on gender-based violence, protection, risk, and mitigation, and counseling and referral services. We have also provided trainings on important and practical life skills like sewing, tailoring, cooking, mechanics, and block printing.

Now more than ever, your commitment to human rights makes a difference. Thank you for your support and solidarity.
