Warming Families for Winter

Chris Coxon, Director of Communications, just returned from a trip to Cox’s Bazaar to visit the refugee camps being supported by your generous donations. He told us the story of Rofika, a resilient mother of four living in the camp.

“We are fine right now,” Rofika told Chris when he spoke with her in the camp where she now lives. But “we need warm clothes for the kids, for us. We could not bring any warm clothes.”

Rofika, along with her husband and four children, fled Myanmar last fall after their village came under attack. For five days they walked through wet bushland and jungle until they finally reached the camp. In recent weeks, winter has arrived, and with their only shelter being a simple tarp tent that offers no insulation against the cold, they – and many others just like them – need our help.

It only takes $19 to provide blankets and warm clothes the Rofika’s entire family.

With your help we have already provided warm blankets and clothing to 7,900 displaced families. Together, we are aiming to reach more than 8,300 families with the winter-weather supplies they urgently need.

In Bangladesh, the heart of winter is fast approaching. Though the families are showing astounding levels of strength and resilience, in times like these, every small gesture of warmth and solidarity counts.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support. None of this work is possible without you.
