Story: Learning That Lasts

The number nine symbolizes fulfillment and longevity. Two values that perfectly capture the Rohingya Community School’s (RCS) journey in 2025.

As an Alternative Learning Center (ALC), RCS continues its core mission to provide quality education for Rohingya children in Kuala Lumpur and Kedah, from preschool to secondary education and even tertiary sponsorship. Each fulfilled need strengthens the foundation for longevity — ensuring that RCS can continue serving the community’s future generations.

This quarter, fulfillment took many forms: classrooms filled with eager learners, football fields alive with teamwork, and new partnerships blossoming through shared purpose.

Impact: Beyond the Classroom

RCS’s impact extends beyond academics, nurturing both character and community connection.

On 20th & 21st June, four RCS teams advanced to the semi-final and knock-out rounds of the Faisal Cup, an annual football tournament organized by Dignity for Children Foundation. The event uses sports as a tool to promote peace and inclusion among refugee and poor local children.

Meanwhile, RCS Kedah hosted a futsal and badminton tournament involving both 70 RCS students and 30 local urban poor students — a step further strengthening social bonds and mutual respect between communities.

RCS KL also collaborated with Goodera and Lenovo Malaysia for a STEM workshop, where students explored science and technology hands-on. At the same time, Lenovo staff gained a new understanding of refugee education challenges. The session created a meaningful two-way exchange — learning, empathy, and shared growth. Through this collaboration, RCS also fulfills its educational role by raising awareness of refugee education and challenges at multiple levels of society.

Need: Sustaining Fulfillment

As RCS continues its operation, longevity remains key. The school needs continued support to:

  • Maintain consistent essential ALC operation funding (teachers, rental, transportation)
  • Maintain secondary sponsorship and extracurricular programs for youth development
  • Strengthen partnerships that promote refugee inclusion.

Your generosity keeps these efforts alive, ensuring that RCS’s mission remains fulfilled and enduring. In the spirit of No.9, we celebrate not just what has been achieved, but the steady journey toward lasting impact.

Fulfillment fuels longevity — and longevity secures the future.
