In many cultures, the number eight symbolizes growth and expansion — a meaning deeply embraced in Japanese culture. It’s a fitting metaphor for what the Rohingya Community School (RCS) has experienced in the first quarter of 2025: a season of strategic progress and new beginnings.
Your generous support has helped us grow our reach, deepen our impact, and open doors that were once unimaginable for Rohingya children in Malaysia.
Holistic Education: Nurturing Spirit and Mind
In April 2025, RCS Kedah introduced an evening Quranic class that now benefits 50 Rohingya students. For a community where Islam is an integral identity, this initiative strengthens emotional and spiritual resilience. It represents a key step in our effort to provide holistic education that supports every child the physical, emotional, and spiritual development.
Secondary Education: Two Major Milestones
Access to secondary education remains one of the most urgent gaps for refugee children. In early 2025, we made significant strides:
Trial Secondary Class in Kedah
RCS Kedah launched a pilot secondary class in Sungai Petani, responding to the absence of accessible secondary options in the region. The nearest available school is over an hour's drive away, making it logistically unfeasible for many families. Now, 15 students are enrolled in this class — a critical first step in bridging the education gap in Kedah.
New Sponsorship Partnership for Secondary Schooling
We are thrilled to partner with the Malaysian Korea International School (MIKS). Through this collaboration, 6 of RCS Cheras's 2024 graduates (3 boys and 3 girls) are now continuing their studies at MIKS. In total, 13 students aged 13–18 are currently benefiting from our secondary education sponsorship program — a number we hope to grow with continued support.
A Tertiary Breakthrough: Our First Graduate Steps Forward
We’re proud to celebrate a landmark achievement: our first IGCSE graduate has entered tertiary education. She is now pursuing a Foundation in Business at Brickfields Asia College (BAC), supported by discounted fees. Her journey is not only a success story — it’s a beacon of hope for Rohingya girls, proving that higher education is within reach.
Your Impact: Expanding Services, Growing Partnerships
These advancements — from evening religious classes to tertiary education — are made possible because of your ongoing contributions. For years, your support has enabled RCS to:
Sponsor primary graduates through secondary education,
Build meaningful partnerships with educational institutions,
Begin expansion into tertiary pathways.
The beginning of 2025 marked not just the expansion of services but also growth in partnerships and vision.
Thank You
We believe each milestone reflects your unwavering belief in a child’s right to learn and grow. Your generosity fuels transformation — not just in classrooms, but in futures.
