Rohingya Community School (RCS) for 250 students

As 2026 progresses, so does RCS. Building upon the foundations laid over the years, we continue to strengthen existing programs while expanding access to quality education for Rohingya children.

Further Strengthening the Foundation

This quarter, your support enabled RCS Kedah to provide one year's worth of learning materials for 100 students. The books and resources are locally sourced, aligned with the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE) syllabus, and carefully adapted to suit the context and learning needs of Rohingya children.

For children experiencing displacement, incorporating local elements into education helps facilitate understanding, encourage social integration, and support the long-term sustainability of the Alternative Learning Centre (ALC).

Your contributions also supported the repair and servicing of RCS Kedah's school van, ensuring that 90 Rohingya children can continue travelling safely to school each day. The same vehicle also serves 30 Malaysian children attending a free literacy and numeracy tuition programme conducted by MRA Kedah at the RCS facility.

Since 2022, RCS has shared its premises with this after-school programme, benefiting an estimated 120 children from two vulnerable communities. This synergistic arrangement has strengthened relations between the Rohingya and local communities while expanding access to safe and quality education for children who need it most.

Next Tangible Steps

Following the introduction of the secondary education pilot class in Kedah, RCS is currently exploring pathways that will enable its 20 secondary students to obtain recognised academic qualifications.

Meanwhile, our long-term educational support has borne new fruits. We proudly celebrate our second IGCSE graduate from IDEAS Academy, who achieved outstanding results of 2A and 2B and previously served as President of the Student Council in 2024.

We are equally delighted to celebrate another milestone — our first Foundation graduate. In May 2026, she completed her Business Foundation programme at Brickfields Asia College (BAC) with a CGPA of 3.5.

While awaiting their next enrolment cycle in September 2026, both graduates have chosen to give back by serving as part-time teachers and staff at RCS Cheras, creating a meaningful cycle of mentorship and hope for younger students.

Looking Towards the Future

The progress achieved this quarter demonstrates that strong foundations create opportunities far beyond the classroom. From improved learning resources and safe transportation to graduates returning to serve their community, each milestone reflects a growing cycle of empowerment. As RCS moves from foundations to the future, we are reminded that long-term change is built through patience, consistency, and shared commitment.

Together, we are not only expanding access to quality education for Rohingya children in Malaysia—we are investing in a future where they can learn, lead, and give back to their communities.
