Educate & Empower 1200 Girls in the Nairobi Slums

Education is key to life yet alot of girls in the third world countries never live to see this dream come true due to cultural norms that demean the girl child and other factors like pverty that confine a girl to a never ending misery without education.

Your support has enabled safe spaces provide this life changing opportunity to the girl child in our community.Since 2011 more than 100 girls have been able to complete their High school,3 girls have joined University,3 girls have been employed by cooporates through basketball combined with computer literacy skills.15 girls have gotten basketball scholarships to pursue further education and together with you,more girls will live to see their education dreams come true.More Fathers are willing to take their girls to school as opposed to selling them for cows as through sensitization, they have realized that investing in girls education,is investing for development.This would not have happened if it was not for your support.

As 2013 comes to a near end,we hope this is not the end of our friendship,We long to see you again,we long to continue working together for this noble course,we hope that you wont get tired of listening to our requests for your help and we promise to make the best of your donation to make others  live their dreams,change their lives and their lives become more meaningful and worthy of living.Thank you so much and we love you.

"My dad abandoned us in the rural areas 7girls and 1 boy.My mum was a housewife.She was married at 14 years.We stayed almost 2years without hearing from him.We all dropped out of school and life was unbearable.My mum resulted working as house help to find food for us.My dream was to become a teacher.Now that the breadwinner had disappeared my dream became shattered.I decided to Travel to Nairobi to look for my dad.Luckily i found him but with another wife.I pleaded with him to take me back to school but my step mum was so difficult.I was treated like the house help for 6 months as i waited for a chance to go back to school.It never happened,i became desperate and eventually lost hope with life.My plan was to commit suicide. I went to church to say my last prayers and noticed some girls playing basketball in the church court.I was a footballer.This caught my attention and i waited till they finished training.I approached one of them,a voice in me told me to share my problems and that's how i got saved.I joined safe spaces and was taken to school,i repeated because i had wasted almost an year.I was also rescued and taken to a safe house.My dream rekindled.I was trained as a peer educator,basketball coach and mentor to the other girls.One year later,i got a basketball scholarship to a boarding school.From the leadership skills i had learnt in safe spaces,i rose to position of Head girl in 3 months. Now im a high school graduate and joining University in early 2014.I really want to become a professional teacher and im just in the right track.I sincerely thank the people who have made this possible,People who support Safe Spaces,God bless you,I don't know if i would have lived to see this day,but you and me made it happen."
