We provide urgent medical care, clean water, and hygiene kits to displaced families and children facing a deadly cholera outbreak in South and North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo. Amid armed conflict, over 18,000 infections and hundreds of deaths have been recorded in 2025. Our project brings life-saving relief directly to the hardest-hit communities.
Armed conflict in DR Congo has forced thousands to flee into overcrowded camps in South and North Kivu, where sanitation is non-existent and cholera spreads rapidly. In 2025 alone, 18,385 cases and 364 deaths have been reported. The health system is overwhelmed, and without immediate intervention, more lives will be lost especially among children and the elderly.
We provide emergency cholera treatment, distribute hygiene kits and water purification tablets, and build handwashing stations in camps. We also train local health workers in detection and rapid response. By acting quickly, we reduce infection, save lives, and prevent future outbreaks in these vulnerable communities.
Our work builds local health resilience and equips communities with knowledge to prevent cholera. Clean water systems and education will continue to protect families after the crisis. Long-term, we aim to strengthen public health systems to withstand future outbreaks, improving stability and health outcomes in the region.
