Planting Prosperity in Peruvian

By Maria Varela | Programme leader

Dear Donors Happy New Year 2023

We have started our planting campaign.

Thanks to the Pachamama! The families are getting down to work! digging holes and planting trees.

We were all very worried. We wait 2.5 months (October-December) and  for the rainy season to start, while the families continued to take care of the plants in the nurseries and held meetings to define the planting areas.

For this campaign we estimate to plant 900,000 trees between December 2022 and February 2023. These trees improve the soil and climate, they serve as shelter for the few animals thatlive in the area, they will mitigate and compensate for climate change.

The mushrooms appear with the first rains and families can harvest them, it is an improvement to their economy.

These trees are the future of the farming families, they will generate sustainable in come in the short, medium and longterm.

The forestry committees work with the communities to take care of the animals and to preventfires.

Together with the families and with the support of the municipal authorities, we have built new, high-capacity nurseries using the Chilean seedling production technique. As for the availability of seeds in the country for purchase, it has been very difficult to find them and the costs have been very high. That is why we are acquiring seeds in Chile forthe 2023-2024 season.

We celebrated the feast of prosperity with all the winning families and communities in the districts of Accha, Independencia and Echarati.  Families were awarded for their significant achievements and progress. These families obtained the highestmarks in the contest, evaluated by a rigorous team of jurors.

The competitions motivate families and communities to improve their homes, businesses, common spaces, and overall quality of life. Communication, trust and dialogue between the families, their representatives, partner institutions and our work team are verygood.

On theo ther hand, the competitions are a mechanism to find the families with the best achievements in a systematic way. Subsequently, within the se families we will be able to find candidates to become farmer experts.

The categories of:

 1) Housing and health,

 2) Irrigation, crops and pastures,

3) Forestry,

4) Sustainablebusiness,

5) HappinessforAllweregraded.

Awards were also given to theJury, the Committee of Administrative Boards of Sanitation Services (JASS).

During the awards ceremony, the artistic expressions of dances, gastronomy, poetry and singing were qualified.

We are grateful to be in a situation that allows us to continue to serve our community.

We hope to continue to counton your generosity and continue to planting prosperity!

Help us with your donation to planting Prosperity!

BLESSINGS

TEAM PACHAMAMA RAYMI
