Hello birds of prey supporters,
Since we last reported to you, we have been awaiting the breeding season for our birds of prey which is due to begin in February.
eggs are laid, they will be removed and placed in our incubation center to ensure optimal hatching chances.
Did you know that for breeding pairs in our Birds of Prey Aviary (as opposed to eggs removed from other nests), we replace the removed eggs with silicone eggs to ensure that natural brooding and parental care behaviors continue to occur and develop. Once a hatched chick is selected for rearing by a foster parent pair, the silicon egg is replaced with the chick and normal rearing usually takes place. This process is carefully monitored by our staff, of-course, and over recent years we have had much success with this method which ensures that reared chicks can be released back into the wild.
Thank you for your continued support of this important wildlife conservation project.
