Donor Report Update: Save the Soul Sisters – Doe & Darling February 2026
We are happy to begin 2026 with wonderful news to share. Thanks to the generosity of our amazing herd, we have fully raised the funds for Doe, and as of the 4th December she has officially been signed over to the Elephant Valley Project!!! This is a huge milestone for her future and for our entire team, and we truly cannot put into words how grateful and relieved we are.
With Doe now secured, our full focus is on her lifelong companion, Darling. We are close to the finish line, and with continued support, we are confident we can make this forever home a reality for her as well.
About the Soul Sisters
Doe (Gee Bloh) and Darling (Bong Kong) are two elderly female elephants in their 50s and 60s, affectionately known as the “Soul Sisters.” They have shared an unbreakable bond for most of their lives and have been living at the Elephant Valley Project on and off since 2012, with a more permanent and secure arrangement in place since 2020. Our commitment is to ensure they can spend the rest of their lives together, protected in the forest, free from exploitation, and surrounded by the care they deserve.
Campaign Progress
An extraordinary donation of USD 10,000 from EXO Travel Cambodia, as well as a donation by the Van Wijk family from the Netherlands, allowed us to fully secure the funds needed for Doe. This moment ensured she will never again face the risk of being sold or relocated.
Momentum continued on Giving Tuesday, December 2, when our community once again showed its strength by raising USD 7,000 toward Darling’s future.
With another wave of donations, as of the beginning of Feb, the campaign has reached 88% of our goal. We are now only USD 8,250 away from fully securing Darling’s place alongside Doe. We have another month to get the full amount and we are confident we can do this.
Thank You
We cannot thank you enough. Every single dollar donated creates a direct and lasting impact on Doe and Darling’s lives. Your generosity protects them from ever being returned to exploitative industries and ensures they can remain together, honoring their lifelong bond after decades of hardship.
From the bottom of our hearts (and on behalf of Doe and Darling) thank you for standing with the Soul Sisters and being part of their journey toward a true forever home.
With love,
The Elephant Valley Project team.
