Thank you for donating to Save the Children! Here is an update on our work in Sudan:
It’s been one year since armed conflict broke out in the capital of Sudan that has since triggered widespread violence and instability across the country and the region. Sudan is now the largest child displacement crisis in the world with 4 million children uprooted from their homes.
Despite ongoing hostilities, our team of 300 staff and 25 local partners have reached children and families in Sudan with critical services spanning health, cash assistance, child protection and education. We’re also providing critical support to children who’ve been forced to flee to neighboring countries, like South Sudan and Egypt.
We’ve been able to work side-by-side with local partners to reach 1.4M people, including more than 979K children, since the conflict began.
Despite the staggering levels of need, the conflict in Sudan is not getting the attention it deserves. There is a tremendous lack of institutional funding and a critical lack of humanitarian access. Amidst these challenges, Save the Children and partners remain dedicated to providing lifesaving assistance to families who continue to be impacted by this crisis.
Since the very beginning of this conflict, we’ve reached millions of people with critical services in Sudan, including:
We’re also providing support to children seeking safety in neighboring countries like South Sudan and Egypt.
We will serve children during this crisis for as long as they need us. We will continue to bring together the best of our experience in humanitarian programming and long-term recovery efforts, working with partners to ensure that urgently needed support reaches children and families in Sudan and neighboring countries.
This is all possible because of the generosity of donors like you. Thank you for your support!
