Waste management in Rincon is quite complicated, and much waste ends up buried in the ground, burned in gardens, or simply left in the street. This directly threatens the precious ecosystems of Rincon, such as the mangroves, which are currently being restored. Managing this waste sustainably is therefore a daily challenge.
In 2025, we had to chance to have a visit from EDF to implement a new project: Precious Plastic. These machines recycle plastic, especially bottle caps, by shredding them and giving them a new life.
In November 2025, we received approval from EDF and will be able to implement this project in 2026. This includes the arrival of Precious Plastic machines, new solar panels, training in plastic recycling and the creation of potential new recycled objects, the distribution of recycling bins to households, and community collections in the village and mangroves with our local partners, such as Corporimar. We eagerly await the start of this new project, which could revitalize waste management here in Rincon.
Many thanks to all those involved in this project and to EDF.
