Growing Together - With the Change you Seeded!

By Anjanette Wilson | Seeding Sovereignty Global Giving Project Leader

Greetings!

It's been a while! We sincerely hope you’ve been keeping well. This Native American Heritage Month we reflected on all that you made possible during incredibly challenging pandemic times. You helped sustain us at a time of great uncertainy. We hope that you too, were able to reflect this past month and acknowledged all that you made possible.

As an update and thanks, we want to share that your donations helped us distribute PPE to more than 250,000 Indigenous relatives, sent Elders critical food supplies, provided isolated youths with books, and distributed food and care packages to unsheltered relatives. Your Covid support reached from the Jicarilla Apache Nation, Navajo Nation, and the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico to Indigenous communities across the United States, Canada and even remote villages in the Ecuadorian Amazon when a second wave hit!

Before the pandemic and its many months of mutual aid, you supported youth-driven, narrative-shifting, skill-building storytelling. The frontline stories of Kanaka Maoli Mahu warriors fighting to protect Mauna Kea and Haudenosaunee youth resisting Nestlé’s water theft in their homelands live in our hearts, and in the stories you enabled. Sadly, Ladonna Bravebull Allard, a beacon of change, a warrior for her people, a leader at Standing Rock, and relative to us, has since become our beloved ancestor. Her lessons and stories live on, too. We thank you for believing in us!

Our learnings have been many, and we want to grow the programming your contibutions nurtured.

We are excited to share 3 new youth-led GlobalGiving campaigns with you - an incredible community of 517 donors who together raised $41,487.00 (!!) over 3 very full and challenging years. Today your donations will go even further with the bonus dollars and match amounts for new recurring donors from GlobalGiving for these 24 hours.

Please join us as we grow today and through December as the holiday season is extra hard on our communities.

The Medicine Wheels Indigenous Youth Leader Initiative on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota empowers and cares for Indigenous youth who face extreme poverty and high rates of suicide and chronic addiction. Please consider helping us meet our $10,000 goal to get 50 skateboards to isolated youths on Pine Ridge this holiday season and fund mental wellness programming for Indigenous youths fighting epidemic rates of depression, suicide, addiction, joblessness, and poverty.

After the summer's historic floods in Appalachia, we launched our project to Fund Drones for Appalachia Flood Victim Recovery. The aftermath of these climate-induced floods has left communities reeling, homeless, and needing aid to rebuild their lives. Please help us raise $10,000 to send drones and training for impacted community youths to conduct searches and distribute critically needed drinking water, blankets, water and formula to famlies who lost everything before winter's cold and to prepare for the predictable climate catastrophes this Spring.

In response to the ongoing attack on reproductive choice, our new Fund Access to QTBIPOC Abortion and Care project provides essential skills, healing care and critical funds to build networks for QTBIPOC young people to support themselves and their communities.  Let's raise $10,000 before December to fund access to abortions, and seed local abortion doula collectives. We believe that all people should have access to abortions and tools as compassionate informed abortion companions.

We invite you to share your generosity with these new critical projects. Please share these opportunities to make a difference with your families, co-workers, and friends. Our work is grassroots and community funded, and it is our sincere wish that you know how much you matter and make possible. Every dollar counts.

In deep gratitude and wishes for health, safety and peace this time of year!
