Foster parents can oftentimes feel overwhelmed by caring for one or multiple children with many needs, including support from past traumas, medical conditions, developmental disabilities and behavior problems that require extra care.
Lincoln's Foster Closet, a 501c3 non-profit based in Kaukauna, WI, is one of Jake’s community partners who is supporting these children and families in the foster care system with basic needs and enrichment programs.
After volunteering at Jake’s with her daughter a few times, Shana learned more about Jake’s and the resources it provides. She and her daughter were inspired to start Lincoln's Foster Closet and partner with Jake’s to provide an elevated experience to foster care families.
Lincoln’s Foster Closet utilizes Jake’s Hope Hub (part of its My Neighbor program) to purchase items such as clothing, personal hygiene, and baby care needs for a fraction of the price.
“Our favorite thing about the hub is the affordability. We get a lot of needs for a fraction of the price and it goes a long way.Saving money and helping families/children which is our favorite thing to do,” Lincoln Foster Closet Founder Shana said.
Our Foster program partners are all working hard to provide foster children with a childhood experience. By partnering with Jake’s Network of Hope, the anxiety around providing the basics for these children can be reduced, which allows energy to be focused on providing a better experience for the child.
“We absolutely love the assortment of items that bring a sigh of relief and joy to our clients. Plus the staff and volunteers are absolutely amazing, helpful and so kind,” stated Shana, “ Jake's Network of Hope is such a life saver, money saver, and a blessing we truly appreciate. We hope Jake's is around for many, many years to come.”
Thank you for your support of our programs during 2022. Your ongoing gifts continue to create amazing change for all those we partner with and serve across the globe.

As of October 2022, generous donations from people like you have supported the distribution of 454,771 diapers to 10,013 babies and toddlers.
These diapers help low-income babies in early education programs, ensure that parents can continue to send their infants to daycare and go to work to earn a much-needed income and enable other services such as foster programs, pregnancy agencies and more.
Here's an example from one program that focuses on helping new parents.
Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin is a non-profit, human services agency offering more than 35 programs that support the people of Northeast Wisconsin during challenges and transitions in their lives. Through their programs they work towards creating communities of thriving children, strong families and healthy individuals.
Family Services NE Wisconsin has partnered with Jake’s to help families in Shawano County transition into parenthood with supplying diapers through our East Wisconsin Diaper Bank.
“One family shared that since they get help with diapers, they are able to use the money towards other things that are essential, such as food and clothing. Another family shared that they have been able to save that money for fun things to do with the family instead of spending it on diapers,” stated Rachel Herrmann, Family Support Specialist at Parent Connection – Shawano & Menominee Counties.
At Jake’s we are driven to ensure every baby has the diapers he or she needs to stay clean, dry and healthy. When a family has to sacrifice basic hygiene needs in order to afford other basic needs, it reduces a quality life. We are happy to have partnered with Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin’s Parent Connection!
“So much help with this program – Thank you!”

Parents are a child’s first teacher and have a long-lasting influence on their lives.
Family Services Early Head Start has created programming that supports parents and families with quality prenatal and early childhood development services. The program is comprehensive and involves the family in the total development of the child.
With a focus on low-income families, Family Services Early Head Start offers programming such as: Early childhood education with a developmentally appropriate curriculum, prenatal services, health and nutrition, special needs services, parent involvement, family development and community partnerships. One of their community partnerships has led them to partner with Jake’s Network of Hope to provide these young families with diapering supplies.
“Our families express appreciation to receive diapers and report it helping them with the high costs in today's world,” said Melissa Carter of Family Services EHS. “The diapers also allow families to continue to stay connected with Early Head Start and families who meet regularly get the option to receive diapers monthly.”
We believe that no family should have to sacrifice basic hygiene needs in order to afford other basic needs - it reduces a quality life. We are proud to be partnered with Family Services EHS to help ensure every baby has the diapers he or she needs to stay clean, dry and healthy.

Yet another community is searching for ways to do more: The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry cited a significant increase in visitors to pantry as cause for requesting more product via its partnership with Jake’s.
The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry has partnered with Jake’s Network of Hope to help stock the pantry with items such as books, toys, wipes, diapers and adult incontinence products. The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry serves all ages; in August, Jake’s distributed enough diapers to serve more than 600 babies through the Oneida pantry.
“We try to stay stocked with the most variety of product sizes and some sizes go faster than others,” said Marlon Skenandore, of the pantry. “We will have clients that come in but we are out of those specific size products. It's disheartening to them so you know it's making a difference.”
The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry is a unique service to the Oneida Nation. The Pantry opened its doors January 2017 to service Community members in need of emergency food help.
The pantry’s mission is to provide the Oneida Community access to nutritious food when in need, increase self-sufficiency and collaborate to strengthen the Oneida community integrated food system, and with this mission the program has seen tremendous growth since opening, serving close to 1,000 families since opening.
“The impact we have on people's lives is unbelievable,” Marlon said.” We try to stay stocked with a variety of product sizes and some sizes go faster than others. We will have clients that come in but we are out of those specific size products. It's disheartening to them so you know it's making a difference.”
Jake’s is proud to be partnered with The Oneida Emergency Food Pantry to help individuals live clean, healthy and active lives and to help individuals feel a sense of dignity.
