The Yachana Foundation has 2,500 acres of Amazon Rainforest, and we have been protecting this land for 30 years. As part of our efforts to protect the rainforest, we are looking at a way to increase the number of bees and beehives throughout the region to help in the pollination of the forest. We are acutely aware of the diminishing population of bees throughout the world, and certainly within the Amazon.
Bees are crucial pollinators in almost any ecosystem, and as approximately 17% of the Amazon rainforest has been destroyed, many beehives have gone too. Without bees, the biodiversity of the Amazon remains compromised which could lead to the entire ecosystem collapsing.
Our foundation will provide local women in charge of our hives with the money they need to ensure the success of the bees. These women will receive an income for the work as well as resources they need such as tools and technical support.
The program will significantly increase the number of bees living and working in our area. The bees help pollinate the rainforest and provide a source of income for the women who tend to our bees. It is an easy way for you to make a difference. Help us help nature!
