When Education Opens Doors: 12 Students, 12 Dreams

At Alhassan Foundation, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for creating lasting change and opening new opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Through Alhassan Scholarship Program, we provide scholarships to outstanding university students who use wheelchairs, helping them continue their education and pursue their academic goals without financial barriers standing in their way.

Supporting 12 Outstanding Students

Our latest milestone was a celebration honoring 12 outstanding wheelchair-using university students who received the Alhassan Academic Rehabilitation Grant.

The students come from different governorates across Egypt, including Cairo, Giza, Fayoum, Minya, and Beheira, and are enrolled in different universities and academic disciplines, including Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Mansoura University, and other Egyptian universities.

Comprehensive Educational Support

Alhassan Scholarship goes beyond tuition fees. It provides comprehensive support designed to help students focus on their education and successfully complete their university journey.

The scholarship covers:

University tuition and college fees
Books and educational supplies
Meals
Transportation expenses
Student accommodation
Other university-related fees and expenses

By addressing these different financial needs, the grant helps remove some of the barriers that may prevent talented wheelchair-using students from continuing their education.

Education as a Path to Opportunity

During the celebration, May ZeinElDein, Managing Director of Alhassan Foundation, emphasized the importance of education and its role in transforming lives.

She highlighted that supporting students with disabilities is not only about providing financial assistance, but also about creating opportunities for them to build their future, achieve their ambitions, and participate fully in society.

The 12 students honored at the event represent different academic fields, backgrounds, and governorates, but they share the same determination to learn, succeed, and build a better future.

At Alhassan Foundation, we believe that education is an investment in potential. By supporting talented students today, we are helping create a future where disability is never a barrier to education, achievement, or opportunity.

Supporting Radwa's Path to a Better Future

Dear AlHassan donors, supporters, and believers

AlHassan Foundation is pleased to announce a comprehensive scholarship program aimed at supporting students with physical disabilities (wheelchair users) who face financial difficulties in pursuing their education. The scholarship is designed to promote inclusivity and provide opportunities across all educational levels.

At just 19 years old, Radwa faces daily challenges resulting from brain atrophy, yet she remains determined to pursue her education and build a better future for herself. Radwa enrolled in the Faculty of Computers and Information at Mansoura University and was expected to begin her second year of study this academic year. However, due to the difficulties associated with her condition and personal circumstances, she had to postpone her studies.

Radwa comes from a family with limited financial resources. Her parents are divorced, and she currently lives with her mother, who is a housewife. Her mother has remarried, while her father works in freelance jobs to earn a living. Radwa also has two younger siblings. The family relies on support from the Takaful and Karama program to help meet their basic needs.

Recognizing her determination to continue her education despite these challenges, Alhassan Foundation has supported Radwa through its educational scholarship program. The scholarship is designed to remove financial barriers that may prevent students with disabilities from accessing higher education. It covers university tuition fees, academic books and study materials, assistive devices and educational equipment such as laptops, transportation expenses, and accommodation costs when needed. This comprehensive support enables Radwa to continue pursuing her academic goals and helps create a more accessible path toward educational achievement and independence.

Despite the challenges associated with her disability and financial circumstances, Radwa remains committed to her academic ambitions and is determined to continue her educational journey. Through her perseverance and the support she receives, she continues to work toward achieving her goals and building a brighter future. Her story reflects the importance of ensuring that young people with disabilities have access to the resources and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society.

Rising Against All Odds

Dear AlHassan donors, supporters, and believers

Asmaa Khamis, the top student in the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun

Asmaa’s journey is one of resilience and determination. In 2004, she experienced a devastating fall that resulted in spinal fractures and left her with paraplegia. Her life, as she knew it, came to a halt.

But in 2018, everything began to change. We met Asmaa through the “Customized Wheelchair” project, where she connected with the Alhassan Foundation team and slowly began to rebuild her confidence and strength. From the process of taking measurements to receiving her wheelchair, Asmaa impressed everyone with her courage and unwavering spirit.

Through rehabilitation sessions and continuous support, she held on to her belief in herself and remained determined to continue her education.

Her hard work paid off. Asmaa achieved an outstanding score of 95.24% in high school, earning her a university scholarship from Alhassan Foundation. By her second year, she ranked first in her class—proving that determination can overcome even the toughest challenges.
