So far this year, we distributed backpacks, uniforms, school supplies and soap to 48 orphans and vulernable children thanks to the generous donations of local hotels, guests and friends of ParCo, including those who donated via GlobalGiving!
The flooding of roads and towns in southern Mozambique earlier this year brought back memories of the year 2000 when a little girl was born in a tree. Indeed a baby was born on a roof top this year. Although Vilanculos was not directly affected, because so many schools were still under water or unusable, the difficult decision was made to delay the start of the year for ALL public schools across the country from January to March.
Sr. Inacio, our Child Protection Officer, carefully identifies cases across Vilaculos neighborhoods and fishing communities, focusing on those who are living without thier partents due to death or abondonment. We make sure the children have everything they need to start school with dignity.
The difference that you make for children like Kelven, who has no father, cannot be under estimated. Thank you for your generosity and please help us reach 100 children (or more) this year!
Enjoy these photos of children receiving their kits before the (delayed) first day school.
