School for 600 children victim of war in DR Congo

In the third quarter of the school year, classes are going well at the Glenn Paige Nonkilling School in Kazimia, Fizi. The region is experiencing a lull after a very bloody confrontation between Governmental forces and Rebel combatants at Misisi (40 km from Kazimia) where dozens of people were killed. Displaced persons continue to take refuge at Kazimia where their children are regularly enrolled in the school.

What has been told with humor by Justine Kashindi (Teacher of the 4th form) "Babo barwanyi bachwe isoma mahikecho y'isa rwana wetu balee bita". This Kibembe sentence means in English "These combatants should come to study the course of nonviolence to our school to give up with war option."

The completion of the walls ahead slowly for lack of cements. The supply is difficult and prices have doubled in the parallel market. But we continue to purchase and store other construction materials including bricks, planks, sheets and nails.

We sincerely thank our donors worldwide for their donations. We greatly appreciate their generosity: some contribute to the construction of new buildings; others add a self-financing option to the School. It is in this latter context, a donor has offered us a boat of 32 tons for the transportation of goods and people across Lake Tanganyika.
The boat is currently using a low power motor (55 horses power). What makes it slow. We plan reinforce the boat's ability to sail well. We hope that our Friends will support us in this wonderful initiative "Boat Business".

Tomorrow is class returned to Glenn Paige Nonkilling School after the Holidays season. This also coincides with a lull in the region; the constant confrontations between Mayi Mayi combatants and Governmental Forces (FARDC) are subsided without being a general cease-fire.
Bricks, cement bags and other materials are well arrived in Kazimia with our new boat funded by the Center For Global Nonkilling. The masons started concreting the walls. But the work was slow because of the lack of cement and its vertiginous rise price in our region.
Meanwhile, the boat began transporting boards to be used in the roof. The boat is an important contribution in building by its permanent availability and easing transportation costs for us. As noted by Mr. Msambya Mwanue, Headmaster : “Les travaux de construction vont s’accélerer à cause de la disponibilité de notre boat pour le transport de matériaux” French sentence that means “The construction work will accelerate because our boat carries materials at any time".

At the beginning of new year 2015 :

We sincerely thank all the donors who support this work. The grains sowed will come out certainly the land to feed a generation that will build a humanity awakened to knowledge, to peace, to the global non-violence. The merit of our donors, they are the builders of this world we dream.
