Children deserve education even in times of war and strife. We have worked hard to provide thousands of refugee children with a free education, over half of whom are girls. Because of harsh conditions these children are fleeing and continue to live under, we also provide them with social services such as insurance, healthy lunches, and assistance transitioning back into the formal school system. Your assistance allows us to continue protecting these children who are the future of our country
To Unicef, 80% of school are closed in the South West and more than 600 thousands of IDPs are victims of drop out. The out of camps refugees and IDPS don't have potable water and electricity. Among the urgent needs identified by the different missions figure education. The majority of CAR refugees, do not yet speak French. For many families in regions in crisis, education is not a priority. In brief, Education is under attack in Cameroon according the UNICEF.
Education can't wait. With other stakeholders, the project set up staffs and volunteers teams to mobilize, sensitize and identify children who haven't fully or partially completed previous school years. Social workers also design to meet IDP, refugee and host students where they are when they arrive. Project intends to prepare thousands of children who dropped out for several months to return to school. Activities include social and protection components related to sensitization for this issue.
At least 2500 refugees and Idp will come back to school. So, the project will help to attend the SDG4. Among them, 1250 are girls, which means the project also attends SDG5. By sensitization and volunteers activities, final target population is 10 000 different actors and leaders will help for a long term action of fighting again droping out phenomenum in school.
