Schools: Educating underserved girls in Pakistan

This term, Moqah Foundation continued its commitment to quality education for children from underserved communities and successfully conducted examinations across all grade levels to assess students’ academic progress and the effectiveness of our teaching interventions. These assessments focused on core subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, and Urdu.

Despite the significant challenges faced by children from underserved communities, exam results reflected steady learning gains, particularly in foundational literacy and numeracy. The outcomes are being used to refine teaching strategies and provide targeted academic support, ensuring that donor contributions continue to translate into measurable learning outcomes.

In line with Moqah Foundation’s commitment to holistic child development, the second term included a range of structured co-curricular activities designed to strengthen confidence, creativity, and social skills.

Key activities included:

• Reading and storytelling sessions to improve language and comprehension
• Art and craft activities to encourage creativity and self-expression
• Physical games promoting teamwork, discipline, and wellbeing
• Life skills and values-based sessions focusing on hygiene, respect, and responsibility

These activities play a vital role in keeping children engaged in school and supporting their emotional and social development—particularly for first-generation learners who often lack such opportunities outside the classroom.

The school organized a field trip to provide students with hands-on experience beyond the class room. Through hands-on exploration and shared discovery, students connected their lessons to the real world, built confidence, and strengthened friendships. For many, it was a rare opportunity to experience new environments—sparking curiosity, broadening horizons, and creating memories that inspire a deeper love for learning.

Moqah Foundation observes a winter break to safeguard students’ health and wellbeing during the colder months. Prior to the break, teachers support students and families by:

• Providing revision guidance and simple at-home learning activities
• Engaging parents to reinforce the importance of continued learning
• Offering warm clothing support to children most in need, where resources allowed

The winter break ensures that students return to school rested, motivated, and ready to continue their learning journey.

After a refreshing summer break, our students have returned to school full of energy, enthusiasm, and a renewed spirit for learning. Orientation activities and icebreaker sessions were organized to ease children back into the school environment. The first weeks of the new session have been dedicated to helping children settle back into routines, reconnect with their peers, and re-engage with academics. Teachers have focused on creating a welcoming environment that fosters confidence, curiosity, and creativity in every child. Parents were briefed on academic expectations and ways they can support their children at home.

Teachers will be conducting revision sessions to strengthen foundational concepts before moving to new lessons. Art, storytelling, and sports activities are being reintroduced to refresh students’ creativity and teamwork skills.

This session has been carefully planned to balance academics, extracurricular growth, and character development. Teachers will be providing extra support for students who need remedial assistance. Weekly assemblies and value-based sessions have been planned to nurture discipline, kindness, and teamwork. A Literacy Week has been planned to encourage a culture of reading among our students.

Follow on to the success of enthusiastic participation of students during the last session and to keep the curiosity of young minds intact, Science fairs will be conducted to provide a platform to showcase their scientific knowledge and skills.

Regular parent-teacher meetings will be held to ensure shared responsibility in children’s growth. The school will be engaging volunteers and community partners for workshops and awareness programs

This academic session has begun with optimism and commitment to excellence.
