Dear Valued Partner:
Thank you for making a difference to women's communities in Kenya! Our partner communities are experiencing an historic drought, the continued negative impact of COVID and more recently, higher food costs since the war in Ukraine. Your investment in this project makes it possible for a total of 1,500 women to grow nutrient dense food for their families. Thank You!
We have exciting news to share: EACF has hired a program manager to further develop and lead this project. Our program manager, Md Edna, holds a MS in Agronomy and is a published PhD candidate. Md Edna has deep community experience with demonstration farms, school communities and international stakesholders, such as USAID. We are thrilled to have Md Edna join our team!
For the next growing season, the women's communities have decided to plant indigenous vegetables for their families: kales, spinach, onions, peppers, amaranth and african nightshade. Typically, if food is available, a family meal consists of only beans and maize. Adding fresh vegetables boosts the nutritional value which promotes improved health. Thank you for making this possible!
We attach a work plan for the first two quarters of our FY23. You will notice that in response to the women's requests, we're expanding our trainings to include water conservation, biological pest and disease control, recycling kitchen waste and best practices for postharvest management. Thank you for your support!
With sincere gratitude,
East African Children's Fund
PS: EACF practices 100% Direct Giving: 100% of your donations are applied to programs.
