Public school is free--but not the notebooks, backpacks, or uniforms. When Cambodian youth go back to school in January after a 10-month break due to Covid-19, some students won't be going. They don't have the basic supplies they need to attend. With your support, we can send 210 youth back to public school with a full backpack! Mission Dove Cambodia has identified the most at-risk students in our 4 target communities to receive this support.
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the Cambodian educational system and the economy. Though public schools are free, students need to bring their own school supplies. Some families simply can't afford this in the midst of the current economic crisis. When schools open in January, students without the proper supplies--including shoes and uniforms for urban students--will not be able to attend classes. Some will likely drop out of school.
Your support can provide a young person with all the supplies he or she needs to go back to school! For students outside the capital, your support of $50 will provide students with a backpack, notebooks, pencils, pencil case, and water bottle. In Phnom Penh, where uniform requirements are more stringent, your support of $75 will provide the same back-to-school package plus a uniform and shoes. Your support will assist the most at-risk students in our target communities.
This project will reach 210 kids who are at risk of not attending school in January because they do not have the proper school supplies. With your support, these students will be able to return to school and continue making progress towards their educational goals.
