Rubiela was born in Baru. Her dream is to become a great cook.
"When I was a child, I played with my friends and we imagined we were cooks in a restaurant. We used dried leaves, which we would cut into small pieces as meat. For the rice we would look for Styrofoam and disintegrate it until it was the same size as a grain. Finally, for the seasoning, nothing better than the sand from Baru", says Rubiela.
Her interest in cooking has always been present in her life. When she was in high school, she enjoyed the typical regional food festivals and the sweet festival held during Easter week. When she graduated from high school, she applied for a job as a cook in a hotel located in Baru: "I was very excited about the interview, but at the end they told me that they would not give me the opportunity because they needed someone who had studied and that had worked as a cook. I was very disappointed, and I was discouraged for several days, but then, I found out about the free cooking program in Santa Ana and I decided to enroll, because I want to demonstrate everyone that I am a very good cook and let them try my dishes", she says vehemently.
