For a vulnerable child in South Africa, attending school is not always guaranteed. School fees, uniforms, shoes, and basic classroom supplies can keep a child from enrolling, cause them to fall behind, and eventually lead them to leave school.
Thanks to your generosity, this ongoing project is helping address these barriers so that more children can enter the classroom, continue their education, and receive the support they need to succeed.
More Than a Place to Learn
School provides far more than academic instruction. For many children, it also offers structure, safety, nutritious meals, and the reassuring presence of adults who can recognize when additional support is needed.
By helping a child remain in school, donors are also connecting that child with a wider network of care and stability.
Providing the Essentials for School
Contributions to this project help cover practical educational needs, including:
These items may seem simple, but for a family experiencing severe financial hardship, they can determine whether a child can attend school.
Supporting the Whole Child
Education is closely connected to a child’s health and well-being. Children supported through this initiative may also benefit from Starfish’s broader services, including nutrition, healthcare, and social welfare support.
This coordinated care helps children arrive at school healthy, prepared, and ready to participate in their learning.
Working Toward Our Goal
Our goal is to support 50 children through this project. While we are still working toward that target, each donation allows us to reach another child and provide the resources needed to begin or continue their education.
As the project moves forward, we will continue working to:
Thank you for helping children enter the classroom with the resources, stability, and care they need to learn and thrive.
