Send a poor child to an agricultural school

Here is a short summary of all the activities for the last 3 months! 

Fruit trees
We have planted 64 fruit trees which are protected by branches. Each of the trees is under the responsibility of 3 students. The trees are: mango, orange, pomegranate, lime, sugar apple.

Protection for the fruit trees is also a place to dry the boots...

Results
Results of the first quarter are rather good. It is very encouraging especially for the class CAP4 which will pass a state exam in June. With help of excel I had prepared some analysis of the results so that we can see what we can do to help students who are behind.

Below, Macaire (vice director and agronomy teacher) announces the results of the mock exam for the 4th year. Teachers were happy with the results, students a bit disappointed. 56% got the exam without a second round and only one did not get the points to have a second chance.

Remarks from visitors: children at the LAP are only busy with studies. Their study method is not the best and there is not enough time for "play". We will look at this seriously.

New constructions at the LAP
The sport platform is finally ready for some game of volley ball. We are also building new dormitories. 

The 2 new buildings will be able to take 72 new students as of April 1st. Many new buildings are coming out of the ground: nurse post, building for the grinding mill, dormitories.

We have a lot of difficulties with stray cows, goats, donkeys. We have started to fence the LAP with barbed wire. The perimeter of the LAP is almost 3 km!!

Payment of the tuitions from the parents
Parents have to pay 50 euro in cash and 250kg of corn. Last year we did not check the quality and the volume delivered. This year each bag is checked and since we do not have yet a storage place for this corn and we are using the girls' refectory.

We have to check both the quality and the volume delivered. Some parents are sending bags with good corn on the top and bad one at the bottom. Some send last year corn which is full of insects. We are using 4 of the bags per week as part of the food for the 214 students.

Yvonne and Sandra have also brought some material to play games with the students. This was very much appreciated by the children!

LAP seen from the sky

Buildings of the LAP (our Agricultural Secondary School) seen from the sky. There are new buildings constructed in 2014 which are not yet on this picture. The surface of the ground we have is 48 Hectares.
