Summary

150 single mothers will be trained with on the job-trained skills on dressmaking of which will help them establish their own sewing business, and be able to put a three daily square meal on their table. In addition, these single mothers will be able to take care of the basic needs (medical care, clothing, and feeding, academic materials) of their children. The young teenage girl who will also go through the training will become useful to herself and the society, rather than living bad lives.

Challenge

Three out of every four group of females (15-29 years) in Nkwanta lack on the job-trained skills. This issue have made difficult for young single mothers and teen girls to be able to make a living.Single mothers in Nkwanta also finds it difficult to cater for their medical bills, academic materials, feeding and clothing.This has made lives miserable for these single mothers and that of their children.Some single mothers have to fetch fire wood and sell which they feed on with their children.

Solution

The intervention is to establish a dressmaking resource center to train over 150 single mothers and teenage girls with on the job-trained skills on dressmaking of which will help them establish their own business. The center will also be furnished with sewing equipment and sewing accessories.These single mothers will go through 24 months dressmaking training.After training, these single mothers will be able to provide basic needs (clothing,food,health) needs of their children and school needs

Long-Term Impact

150 single mothers will be empowered with on the job-trained skills on dressmaking of which will help them establish their own sewing business, and be able to put a three daily square meal on their table.These single mothers will be able to take care of the basic needs (medical care, clothing, and feeding, academic materials) of their children. The young teenage girl who will also go through the training will become useful to herself and the society, rather than indulging herself in bad acts.
