106 American Sexual Assault victims helped in 2015

In 2015, we provided direct assistance to 106 American sexual assault victims in 24 countries, and one on an airplane over international water. A total of 240 people were served including those that sent inquiries to our Know B4UGO program.
We would not have been able to provide these services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year without support like yours.
Here is a note from one survivor:
"When I first called you last summer I thought my life wasn't worth living. I was so ashamed. After all of your help and counseling I am moving forward. Now I know it is not my fault. You have given me my life back."
We want to thank your for helping us help American sexual assault victims in the darkest hour of their lives!

Wendy is very thankful for your help.

Wendy began teaching English in Ecuador in September. She loved her job, her students and her co-workers. On her time off she wandered though the cobblestone streets and visited Kichwa villages & the Amazon Rain Forest. She would go home to her apartment and paint. It was her paradise on earth until a co-worker sexually assaulted her in her apartment. She had invited several friends over for dinner. After everyone else left, he lingered, saying he was leaving the next day back to England and wanted to spend a bit more time with her. Wendy never imagined he would force himself on her. She tried to scream for help but he held a knife to her throat.
As many victims do, Wendy felt ashamed. She wanted to pretend the whole thing didn't happen. We provided Wendy with funds to see a medical doctor for STD testing. We also provided counseling and continue on-going case management.
Wendy has decided to stay in Ecuador. She is doing better because of donations like yours. Thank you for caring about helping Americans who are sexually assaulted overseas.

Dallas is thankful!

Dallas went on a volunteer program to Costa Rica in July. She was having the best time of her life. The last night of the program one of the other volunteers snuck into her room in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted her.
Dallas' first instinct was to fight, but he was much bigger and stronger than she was. He held a knife against her throat and told her if she moved he would kill her. She was paralized with fear. After, he told her that no one would believe it wasn't consensual. He left after insulting her and telling her that if he heard her scream he would come back and do it again. She was terrified. She took a shower and cried herself to sleep.
Dallas called us the day after the attack. She didn't want anyone to know, especially her parents and the volunteer program. We discussed medical and law enforcement options with Dallas. Her assailant had already left Costa Rica and her parents were flying in that day to spend a week before they went back home.
She is back in the USA now and connected to free counseling. Dallas wants to volunteer with us to help prevent this happening to other Americans traveling overseas.
