You helped Dara!

Dara was so excited and happy to be studying abroad in Japan. She loved her program and other students from around the world she had met.
She also adored her host family. When the older son of the host family came home to visit for the weekend, she felt a little uncomfortable around him. He was pleasant enough, and treated her kindly, so she dismissed her initial feeling.
Late at night, she was asleep when the older son entered her room. He covered her mouth and held a knife to her throat, threatening to kill her if she screamed. Dara froze in fear while he sexually assaulted her at knife point.
He told her that if she told anyone he would say she had suduced him and invited him to her room. Dara was devastated. She called Pathways and asked us to get her home as soon as possible. She didn't want anyone to know about the assault. She told her parents she was homesick and wanted to come home.
We were able to change Dara's return ticket and get her home. Because of donors like you we will be able to continue to help Dara with her recovery.
Thank you from the Pathways' Team!

We truly appreciate your support for our project Help American Sexual Assault Victims Abroad
We wanted to let you know that we have changed the name of the organization from the Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center and our Sexual Assault Support & Help For Americans Abroad Program to one name: Pathways To Safety International.
We feel the new name better reflects the work we do to help American victims of interpersonal and gender based violence abroad.
Since the #MeToo Movement, we have experienced an almost 30% increase in demand for services for American sexual assault victims abroad. As a donor to this project, you are helping victims every day get help during the worst experience of their lives.
Thank you so much for your support and for your belief in our mission!
