Dear Donors,
We begin this update with our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported Share Your Zakat to Feed Muslim Families in Crisis. To our donors, partners, volunteers and everyone who has shared this appeal, thank you for remembering families facing hunger and displacement in northeast Nigeria.
The need for food assistance remains severe.
Across Borno, Adamawa and Yobe States, years of conflict and repeated displacement have left many families without the farms, livestock, businesses and other sources of income they once depended on. The World Food Programme reports that nearly 5.8 million people across these three states are facing severe food insecurity in 2026.
Behind these numbers are families making difficult choices every day. Some parents are reducing the number of meals eaten at home. Children are among those facing the greatest danger from malnutrition, while older people, pregnant women, people with disabilities and families displaced from their communities may have few ways to earn enough money for food.
The situation has also become harder as humanitarian organizations struggle with funding shortages at a time when more families need assistance.
Our project is still at an early stage and we are grateful to the donors who made those initial gifts possible.
As more funds are raised, we'll directly work with affected communities facing the greatest need. Zakat received through this project will support food, clean water, basic healthcare and other relief for eligible Muslim families affected by conflict and displacement.
We want the assistance to reach people fairly. Before distributions, our team will speak with families and community representatives to understand their circumstances and identify households requiring immediate help.
For Muslims, Zakat carries a responsibility toward people in need. For a displaced family struggling to afford food, that act of giving can mean having something to prepare for the children that day.
We are grateful to every donor and partner who has chosen to stand with these families.
If this appeal speaks to you, please share the project with your family and friends or on social media. You can also become an individual fundraiser on and invite people in your community to support the project.
As funds are received and distributions begin, we will continue to share updates so you can see where the assistance is going and the families being reached.
Thank you for sharing your Zakat with families facing hunger.
With gratitude,
Zahra
