Learning outdoors for children of the favelas

At Sinal do Vale, we believe in the power of communities to shape their own destinies. Join us on this learning journey as we collaborate with the young adults of Hervalina Diniz School, guided by the transformative methodology of working on three interconnected levels: with oneself, with others, and on a larger scale, with the community. Together, we'll ignite positive change, foster active citizenship, and transform dreams into reality.

The Learning Journey:

In our first phase, we practiced the "Appreciation Gaze," inviting the young adults to look closely at the beauty and potential within themselves, their community in the Santo Antonio neighborhood, and their shared dreams. In the second phase, rather than dictating a path, we asked these young adults to envision the future they desire for their community. Their dreams resonated with the values of clean neighborhood, recycling, and sustainability. 

Recognizing the unique talents of each young adult, we are now poised to turn these dreams into action. Through collaboration and active citizenship, they will take the lead in mobilizing their community for a hands-on project that brings their dreams to life.
