Heavy, record-high monsoon rainfall has caused flooding, landslides, and widespread damage and destruction throughout the Sindh province of Pakistan, including its provincial capital, Karachi.
Infrastructure, roads, drainage systems, irrigation, bridges, and even sanitation systems are damaged and in many cases destroyed by the rain. Fish farms are muddled with rain water. Livestock are facing fodder shortage and spreadable diseases. Grains have been washed out and 75% of cultivable land is under water (according to HDP risk assessment). Many families have been evacuated and face numerous diseases including malaria, diarrhea, gastroenteritis and respiratory diseases.
We will be working with several other onground partners for giving emergency health care and food supplies, water purification tablets, and supporting medical camps.
