Summary

Displacement should not mean lifelong poverty. This project equips 400 refugees in Kebbi State, Nigeria with practical, income-generating skills so they can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence. Challenge

Refugees in Kebbi State face daily survival without access to stable income or employment. Many have fled conflict with no assets, limited education, and few marketable skills, leaving families trapped in poverty and dependency. Women and young people are especially vulnerable to exploitation and harmful coping strategies. Without livelihood opportunities, refugees remain marginalized, unable to meet basic needs or integrate peacefully into host communities despite strong motivation to work.

Solution

Skills create opportunity, and opportunity restores dignity. This project will train 400 refugees in market-relevant vocational skills such as tailoring, soap production, hairdressing, phone repairs, and agro-processing. Participants will also receive entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, and starter kits to begin earning immediately. Training is delivered by qualified instructors using a proven, community-based model that ensures participants move directly frm learning to income makers

Long-Term Impact

When refugees earn income, entire communities benefit. Graduates of this project will increase household income, improve food security, and reduce dependence on humanitarian aid. Women gain economic power, children are more likely to stay in school, and tensions with host communities decrease. In the long term, this project builds self-reliance, resilience, and social cohesion, transforming refugees from aid recipients into active contributors to local economic growth.
