A Home for New Beginnings: supporting mothers and children toward independence

By Elisa Cappai | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Over the past few months, life at the Tuendelee Foundation's social housing has continued with important progress and meaningful moments of community. Since November, all the apartments have been fully occupied, allowing us to offer a safe environment to several families facing difficult situations.

The Christmas period was experienced in a warm and joyful atmosphere. Thanks to gift donations, we received many presents for the children, making the holiday season particularly special for them. As every year, we organized a shared moment with all the families when we decorated the social housing Christmas tree. This gathering created an opportunity for connection and celebration within the community.

One of the families, composed of a mother and her three children, was able to spend a few days during the holidays with relatives. At the end of January, this family successfully concluded their stay at Tuendelee Foundation and returned to their rented home, from which the father of the children had previously been removed. This step represents an important achievement in their path toward safety.

Educational and support activities have continued regularly. The homework support space for children remains active, helping them with their schoolwork and encouraging continuity in their education. At the same time, the “family hub” continues to provide a valuable space for dialogue, mutual support and sharing experiences.

At the end of January, another family unit—composed of a mother and her 26-year-old daughter—completed their path and left the facility. In February, a new family joined the project: a mother, her child and the child’s grandmother. In addition, another mother was transferred to another facility in order to continue her path toward greater independence and autonomy.

These transitions reflect the dynamic nature of the project: while some families conclude their journey and move toward greater stability, new families arrive in need of support, protection and guidance.

Your continued support enables us to provide not only safe housing, but also opportunities for growth and stability to families facing vulnerability. Thank you for standing with us and helping make these journeys toward autonomy possible.
