Power Outages Disrupt Patient Care in Rural Clinic

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for supporting the 10 Solar Charging Stations for Nurses and Patients project. We sincerely appreciate your generosity and commitment to improving healthcare services in communities where access to reliable electricity remains a daily challenge.

Many rural clinics continue to experience frequent power interruptions that affect both healthcare workers and patients. Nurses often struggle to keep communication devices and essential work tools charged, while patients and their relatives face difficulties contacting family members, arranging transportation, or seeking help during emergencies.

We are grateful for the donations received so far. The support has demonstrated strong interest in this project and the need it addresses. However, the amount currently available is not sufficient to begin installation of the charging stations. Additional funding is needed before equipment procurement, transportation, and installation activities can commence.

The project seeks to establish solar-powered charging stations in ten healthcare facilities. These stations will provide a reliable source of power for charging phones, rechargeable lamps, and other small devices used by healthcare workers and patients. The systems are designed to operate independently of unreliable grid electricity and will include basic training for facility staff.

Access to dependable power plays an important role in healthcare delivery. When communication devices cannot be charged, it becomes harder for staff to coordinate care and for patients to stay connected during critical situations. Addressing this challenge can improve communication, efficiency, and patient experience within healthcare facilities.

We remain committed to implementing this project and will continue working toward the resources required to launch the first phase. We look forward to sharing future updates as progress is made.

Thank you for standing with rural healthcare facilities and the people who depend on them every day.

Warm regards,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
