What is the difference between being injured if you live in town or in a rural area? In town means, you typically have some sort of employment already and the closest health facility is never more than a few kilometers away. In a rural area means, you are probably working at your homestead in your fields. A health care facility is hours away if you find transport at all.
Mr M suffered a debilitating injury to his back that left him unable to walk. Without access to more than minimal care, he languishes at home. His family suffers even more as he cannot work and there must be someone there to take care of him.
Kudvumisa Clinic is being built in an area where access to health care is a major issue for everyone: even for routine health care. The solar installation will allow all funds to be put to use in helping patients versus putting money into the electric company! Mr M and his family receive help and care from Kudvumisa staff at his homestead. What would the outcome have been if there had been compassionate and quality care available for him when the accident first occurred?
