Summary

It's been almost 10 years since the conflict in Syria began. Over 6.2 million people are displaced - and over half of this figure are women and children. For these families, living conditions are rough. Water is hard to come by, as wells were targetting by the conflict, leaving families with limited access. This project will empower displaced and vulnerable families by building self-sustaining solar-powered wells in displacement camps across northwest Syria.

Challenge

Wells in Syria were a high target of violence, rendering many wells useless and limiting clean water access for the millions of displaced women and children. These vulnerable beneficiaries are forced to resort to undrinkable water, which can carry diseases, or to pay high prices for water despite having no income source. Existing wells are fueled by gas, which is too expensive and difficult to come by - not to mention environmentally damaging.

Solution

NuDay is working diligently to secure sustainable access to clean water for ALL. With your support, NuDay aims to build solar-powered wells in Northwest Syria and provide all vulnerable families with water tanks close to their home, minimizing walking distance and ensuring that water is easy to come by for drinking and household needs. Solar panels mean that wells can run without any cost, and ongoing checks by NuDay will ensure the health of wells as a whole.

Long-Term Impact

The provide will secure water for displaced families across Northwest Syria in an environmentally-friendly, affordable, and sustainable way. Solar panels secure clean energy, lending towards a necessary future-thinking. Affordable access to water means that the dignity of beneficiaries is preserved, and empowers people to care for their health and well-being once again.
