Thanks to you, Starfish continues to partner with local community-based organizations across South Africa, providing steady, reliable care to children who need it most.

Right now, your support is helping provide:

Daily nutritious meals
Ongoing after-school support
School uniforms, shoes, and supplies throughout the year
Early childhood development programs for young learners
Continued healthcare support, including HIV education and treatment
Safe, stable environments where children are cared for and protected

The Year in Review: Strengthening Futures for Children

As 2025 comes to a close, we look back on a year marked by steady progress and tangible outcomes for children in South Africa. Because of the generosity of supporters like you, children and families received essential services that support health, learning, and long-term stability.

Throughout 2025, your partnership helped make the following impact possible:

25 early learning centers strengthened
Preschools supported through this project delivered quality early childhood education, improved classroom environments, and ongoing teacher training—ensuring young children are prepared for the years of learning ahead.
23,664 health consultations
Mobile Wellness Wagons and partner clinics provided critical healthcare to children in underserved communities, including routine check-ups, immunizations, testing, and referrals—bringing care directly to where it is needed most.
248,139 nutritious meals served
Consistent, balanced meals supported children’s physical health and daily energy, allowing them to participate fully in school and other activities.
737 children supported in their education
Through assistance with school fees, uniforms, supplies, and wraparound support, children were able to stay in school and continue building skills for their future.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, our focus remains on strengthening the systems that support children most at risk. In the coming year, we will continue to:

Expand healthcare delivery through mobile Wellness Wagons
Strengthen early learning environments and teacher support
Provide consistent nutrition to children facing food insecurity
Ensure children can remain in school with the resources they need

Because of generous supporters, children in South Africa are reaching new heights.

Thanks to the generosity of friends around the world, at-risk and orphaned children in South Africa received the care, education, and nourishment they need to grow, thrive, and achieve their dreams.

Here are some impactful moments highlighting how every gift made a difference since the start of 2025:

25 preschools funded: These nurturing hubs offer early childhood development, school readiness, teacher training, and a safe, supportive learning environment for young children.
7,167 healthcare support: Gifts powered mobile wellness wagons and clinics to deliver essential medical care (immunizations, HIV testing, check-ups, and referrals) to children in remote areas.
142,024 meals served: Supporters provided children with nourishing meals that fueled their learning, play, and healthy growth.
694 children in school: Generous gifts provided children the opportunity to go to school, where they learned, socialized, and built a foundation for brighter futures.

Bontle is just six years old. She lives with her grandmother and four siblings in a small home with very limited resources. After losing both parents to AIDS, the children’s lives were turned upside down. Their grandmother, though loving and determined, struggled to provide for them. Many nights, Bontle and her siblings went to bed hungry, uncertain if there would be food the next day.

But thanks to the support of Starfish’s generous community, Bontle and her siblings are no longer facing these challenges alone. They now receive regular meals, keeping them healthy and strong, educational opportunities opening doors for their futures, and the medical and emotional care that every child deserves.

Today, Bontle wakes up excited to put on her school uniform and join her classmates. She and her siblings come to school ready to learn, play, and be children again, living each day with dignity, confidence, and joy.
