Dear Supporters,

Thank you for your continuing support to our mission.

At the beginning of last year, none of us could have imagined the year that would come to be. Despite the continuation of the Covid-19 pandemic this year, we managed to stay focused and embarked on a full-scale basketball skill training program combined with afterschool STEM assignment for the kids. The majority of the participants were those who participated in the recent basketball camp in February 2021. The basketball skill training is operational every Tuesday and Friday of each week with an average of 60 kids per training session, girls and boys. After each training session, various discussion and talk about STEM always follows. Kids team up to work on different STEM project to be evaluated at the end of the next basketball session.

To evaluate the kid’s basketball skill, we organized a road trip on March 28, 2021 where selected boys and girls of our program were able to travel from Nkongsamba to Bafang, 1 hour (57km) apart to compete with other kids. The trip was a good experience for everyone because none of this kid had ever traveled to compete with other kids before. The following week on April 7, the kids from Bafang came to Nkongsamba and competed again. This was organized with a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.

This is a quote form one of our participant: ‘’…the tournament was a very good and inspiring experience for me. It was so fun to travel and compete with other girls’’ Leonie

Furthermore, we organized a STEM project competition and invited all kids to participate. The idea was that every participant will make a team of two people and create anything out of any material. The winner was the team of Leonie and Charles Henri who made soap from chalk powder, hot water and a silicone mold.

Thank you again for helping the Manengouba Foundation build a stronger community within Nkongsamba, Cameroon. Please stay connected with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @manengouba
