Kidspire uses STEM education to engage Vietnamese youth and help them regain an interest in learning, transitioning from students who have given up on school into students who believe they can pursue meaningful career goals. But we need your help to ensure that this project reaches the kids who need it most.
Vietnamese children living in orphanages, or other similar circumstances, have limited access to the support systems that they need to prepare for their future careers. Many of these children lack self-confidence and don't believe that education provides any relevant value in their lives. It's common for teenage youth to drop-out of school and seek employment opportunities with limited opportunities for advancement or earning a livable wage.
84% of students participating in Kidspire programs identify an increase in their personal sense of purpose. 72% of participants express a direct interest in finishing high school and pursuing educational opportunities after high school. These educational programs make a big difference in supporting students who have often lost hope in themselves and no longer believe in the value of education - supporting them to develop their self-confidence and envision a pathway towards a future career.
We once heard it said, "You cannot be what you cannot see." We wholly agree, feeling that we have a duty to help position our students so they can imagine themselves in their future careers - while also knowing the steps they need to take to turn that dream into reality. The potential long-term impact is 350 participating youth will engage in STEM learning, start to regain their confidence, and then look ahead towards aspirational careers - and take active steps towards achieving those careers.
