Steps to Recovery: Supporting Syrian Amputees

At NSPPL, we are dedicated to supporting children with physical challenges, helping them regain their strength and mobility. Today, we want to introduce you to young Salar, a five-year-old boy from Afrin who has faced significant obstacles since birth.

Salar has cerebral atrophy, caused by a lack of oxygen at birth, leading to delayed motor and cognitive development. He is unable to stand independently and suffers from shortened Achilles tendons and outward foot rotation. When Salar visited our NSPPL center in Afrin, our team of specialists carefully assessed his condition and provided both physical therapy and assistive devices tailored to his needs. The team custom-made corrective braces, including a KAFO (Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis) and Solid AFO, to help improve his motor functions and correct deformities.
