Smile Charity South Sudan proposes a dedicated peacebuilding and reconciliation initiative targeting conflict-affected communities in Nyiror County, Jonglei State, South Sudan. The project aims to reduce intercommunal tensions, build trust among divided groups, and promote lasting reconciliation through community dialogue forums, trauma healing workshops, youth peace ambassador training, and inclusive community peace committees. Nyiror County has experienced recurring intercommunal conflicts, including cattle raiding, revenge attacks, and land disputes. These cycles of violence have left deep trauma, eroded trust, and weakened traditional conflict resolution systems. Many community members, especially youth and women, feel excluded from peace processes, while grievances remain unresolved. Without targeted interventions, communities risk continued instability and retaliation.
SCSS project will: Conduct 12 community dialogue forums bringing together elders, youth, women, and leaders to openly discuss grievances, share perspectives, and identify solutions. Establish and train 10 inclusive peace committees in mediation, early warning, and non-violent conflict resolution. Hold trauma healing workshops for 300 community members affected by violence, reducing fear and resentment. Train 50 youth peace ambassadors to lead peer-to-peer reconciliation activities and co
The project will create an environment where communities can peacefully resolve disputes and prevent escalation of violence. Long-term benefits include: Restored trust between rival groups.
