Thank you for supporting a child in rural Ghana and giving them the opportunity to receive the education they deserve. Your generosity provides essential books and school supplies, relieving financial pressure on families and enabling children to focus on their studies instead of working to help support their households. While 78 children are currently sponsored through FOA, this update highlights only those sponsored through the GlobalGiving platform.
Bertha Agbesi: The Academy's 1st-grade class is close to reaching their goal of sponsoring Bertha for a second year! Thanks to your generosity, Bertha successfully completed her first year of Kindergarten. Over the next few months, we will share updates on her progress and achievements.
Isabel Kumah: Isabel Kumah, a bright and ambitious seventh grader from Adaklu Goefe, Ghana, excels in English and enjoys reading and improving her spelling. As Class Captain, she showcases strong leadership, participates in the FOA Pen Pal Program and Computer Club, and enjoys crafting handmade beads. She is also one of five students taking an online coding class taught by an Academy alumnus. After learning to create a website, she is now beginning to explore Python programming. More new photos of Isabel are available in her photo album.
What activities are Isabel currently involved in? Isabel is part of the coding club members and in the best readers group in her school.
What is her favorite? Reading of story books and writing of stories.
What is Isabel's favorite FOA-sponsored activity? She loves to help edit letters written by FOA students to their sponsors as well as pen pal letters.
Has anything changed in Isabel's home life? Her elder brother has just graduated from Senior High School and the family was happy and had a small party to celebrate him.
How is Isabel doing in school? She is one of the best students in her class, also the favorite of every teacher because of her smartness in understanding concepts.
How does Isabel feel about having a sponsor? ‘‘Excited’’ was the word she used in describing how she feels.
Anything else? She loves skipping and has a passion for caring for dogs.
Thank you for supporting Bertha and Isabel!
