At the request of 2 communities, NGO CAV proposes to implement a support program for access to improved water sources. This project includes the installation of 2 human-powered boreholes in the communities of Koboo and Koudjoma , respectively in the prefectures of Assoli and Kabou in Togo. This project will contribute to improving the health of these Fulani communities, estimated at 413 inhabitants, by providing them with water of sufficient quality and quantity and in all seasons.
The challenges faced by these communities are generally as follows: water used in these areas is often sourced from open wells, infected water from rivers and ponds, which causes waterborne and parasitic diseases such as malaria (the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in these communities), diarrhea and typhoid fever
1. Raise awareness among the two communities to better understand the issues and risks of the project; 2. Undertake drilling activities and water analysis; 3. Supply the equipment and install the mechanical power system; 4. Build the drilling superstructures with a metal door to protect them; 5. Support the community in setting up Water Committees, responsible for monitoring and managing drilling; 6. Strengthen the capacities of Water Committees on the maintenance, management and monitoring
This project will bring the following impacts 1. A sustainable solution to the problem of drying up of water sources in the dry season 2. Prevention of water-borne diseases 3. Improvement of the health of the population
