This document is the final report of the activities of the said project. These are the following activities carried out during the period:

-       Raising public awareness of the project and setting up drilling sites ;

-       Carrying out geophysical studies;

-       Drilling of wells;

-       Pumping and water analysis;

-       Construction of superstructures;

-       Supply and installation of mechanical pumps with human power in the 2 localities;

-       Technical and provisional reception in the 2 locations;

-       Monitoring and supervision of project activities.

I – NARRATIVE REPORT

1.1. - Population awareness about the project and implementation of drilling sites:

The technical team of the project with the technical support of an agent from the Regional Directorate of Hydraulics toured the two (2) localities benefiting from the projects for the awareness-raising stage.

These awareness campaigns took place on November 28 and 29, 2023, respectively in Kôbôô and Koudjoma 2.

During these awareness sessions, the beneficiaries were equipped with their responsibilities to now take charge of the management and maintenance of the works to be built.

An area of at least a quarter of a hectare was chosen by each community for geophysical studies. This space that was chosen is the one belonging to the entire community or space donated by the community or landowners with proof of ownership of the site.

1.2. - Geophysical studies:

Surveys or geophysical studies were carried out on the sites chosen by the communities. These studies revealed the existence of abundant water tables between 75 and 120 meters deep.

These geophysical studies took place on the same dates as the awareness campaigns in the beneficiary communities.

1.3. - Drillings, development, drilling equipment and water pumping

The drilling and development work took place on November 29 in Kôbôô and on December 1, 2023 in Koudjoma 2. This work was successfully carried out in the 2 communities.

After drilling and development, it is essential to carry out pumping in order to measure the flow rate of the drilling, quantify the characteristics of the aquifer, in particular the transmissivity, the permeability coefficient and the storage capacity.

Pumping was carried out on December 7 and 8, 2023 respectively in Kôbôô and Koudjoma 2.

1.4. - Physico-chemical and microbiological analyzes of drill water:

At the end of the pumping, water samples were taken for physicochemical and bacteriological analyzes in the laboratory at the Regional Directorate of Hygiene and Sanitation.

The analyzes were carried out from December 7 to 11, 2023 and were considered satisfactory.

1.5. - Construction of superstructures

The making of the bricks was carried out on December 7 at the same time as the pumping in Kôbôô. The superstructure was built from December 15 to 18, 2023. At Koudjoma II, it was built from December 20 to 24, 2023.

1.6. - Supply and installation of mechanical human power pumps in the 2 localities

The pump installations were carried out on December 25 and 26, 2023, respectively in Kôbôô and Koudjoma, putting an end to the work in the 2 project locations.

Communities were recommended to use the structures intensively in order to appreciate their functionality.

1.7. - Technical and provisional reception in the 2 localities

The provisional reception took place on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in the morning at 10 a.m. at Koudjoma II and in the afternoon at 4 p.m. at Kôbôô.

The local authorities accompanied the NGO CAV team to the project locations. These include the Deputy Mayors of the Communes Bassar III and Assoli I. They expressed, on behalf of the beneficiary populations, their satisfaction and thanks to the financial partner and the NGO CAV.
For Mr. NAG MASS , Deputy Mayor of the Bassar 3 Commune, “I served in Koudjoma 1 as a school director. At the time, to find water, women were forced to go to the rivers around the village. It was with the hand that we scraped in the sand to find water. Today, the problem of fetching water in Koudjoma II is over. Women and children will no longer go into the backwaters in search of water. The children have time to go to school. Please convey to the COCHRAN Family all the gratitude of the Mayor of the Commune Bassar III. May the Lord bless the COCHRAN Family.”

For his part, Mr. HASS ABOUBA , Deputy Mayor of Commune Assoli 1, thanked the COCHRAN Family very sincerely for its financial support. “Only God can reward the NGO CAV and its Partner, for this jewel which relieves the suffering of the population of Kôbôô”. He then gave extensive advice to the population and urged them to set up a local fund to collect funds to be used to repair possible drilling breakdowns.

Some sister NGOs of RESOKA (Kara NGO Network), notably the NGO TIBI based in Bafilo accompanied and supported the NGO CAV throughout the implementation of the project in the prefecture of Assoli.

An appointment has been made with the communities and the company in charge of the project in six (6) months, i.e. in June 2024, for the final reception of the two (2) structures.

1.8 - Coordination and monitoring of project activities.

All planned activities were carried out under the coordination and effective monitoring of the technical project team, made up of the Technical Monitoring Officer, the NGO Coordinator and the Director of the company in charge of the projects. Work monitoring tours from drilling to technical reception of the works were organized during the implementation of the project. Telephone, email and Whatsapp contacts were exchanged between the project team, the company and the project technical monitoring manager.

Work monitoring and control reports were regularly drawn up and shared with project stakeholders, including the financial partner.
