‘’I am Dorsah, a mother of three and a rice farmer in Ghana’s Upper West Region. For years, I cultivated rice on a small two-acre plot, but my harvests were always disappointing. Limited inputs meant low yields, and making ends meet was a constant struggle.
Everything changed when I joined Self-Help International’s microcredit program. With access to financial support, I finally had the resources to invest in my farm properly. Before this, I could barely afford enough fertilizer and essential inputs. My harvests were small, and my dream of expanding my farm seemed impossible.
But with my first loan, I was able to buy the right inputs—and the results have been life-changing. My yields doubled last year (2024). For the first time, I can sleep peacefully, knowing I’ll have a bountiful harvest to feed my family and reinvest in my farm.
Thanks to this support, I can now provide for my children and dream of even greater success in the seasons to come.
Your generosity makes stories like mine possible. Thank you for empowering farmers like me to build better lives for our families.’’
