This Project will support training of 600 young women and youth out of school in vocational skills - tailoring, hairdressing and saloon, as well as leadership and life skills to enable them get decent job and uplift them from chronic and cyclic poverty for better lively hood and survival.
Most young girls in rural parts of Uganda are given less priority to education; for those who go to school, the completion rate is low & situations around them like lack of fees, scholastic materials, sanitary pads and others items, that could support her stay in school does not favor their education, and forces many to drop out of school without skills. For survival, they resort to Prostitution, working as bar maids, house maids with little pay & Early Marriage since they can't get a decent job
In this project, ASED will provide a safe and equipped training for 600 young women out of school in Masindi in two semesters a year. The Project will provide vocational skills in tailoring, hairdressing and saloon work, as well as entrepreneurship skills to enable young women acquire the relevant skills to get a job or start their Business for better lively hood and survival. They will be attached to local salon and tailors as interns so that they can get access to real Job opportunities.
The project will train 600 young women to get off vicious cycle of poverty and improve on their house hold income for a better livelihood
