Excitement of waiting- Poland Arts Festival!

Children going through a practicing session

As the days are getting closer for children to attend the Brave Kids Arts Festival in Poland, the participants are gripped with excitement. Thanks to you our partners who supported the children since we posted the Project. We have managed to process the passports for the six children. We really appreciate your support for such a unique initiative and a once in a life time opportunity for the disadvantaged children we are working with. They would never dreamt of Poland without your support. Most importantly they will be able to understand their value as they showcase their talents and learn from other cultures.

The traditional dance group meet every week at the center perfecting their skills. Although the Brave Kids Arts Festival is not aimed at competition, it is good to present their best showcasing the talents and culture of Zimbabwe.  Talking to those selected to attend the 2014 version of the festival, they express joy, anxiety, excitement as they wait patiently to go.  One of the participants, Thembisa*, an 11-year old girl had this to say,

" I stay with my grandparents and we are 5 girls and 1 boy. We stay well with my grannies. My mother remarried and is staying with my step father in a one roomed house and we cannot fit in there, so that is why I stay with my grannies. I like to dance 'Muchongoyo' (a type of a cultural dance) because it is the gift that I have. I like dancing because it keeps my body health. I am excited to go out of the country and my parents are excited about it. I am so excited because I have never imagined that I can go to places like Poland. I have always wanted to board an airplane. I will continue with the good behavior so that I will be a good girl among adults and my peers."

This is how the children are feeling and thank you. We appeal to you to continue supporting the children. We still need some funds for the costumes, food and airfares. You are part of the Chiedza community and we value the partnerships.

Thank you!
