Giving Tuesday: COVID-19 and Imani House

We sincerely hope that this update finds you safe and well. We wanted to reach out and thank you again for your past support, and also update you on the effects of this catastrophic pandemic on Imani House programs.

Our staff is working through the end of the school year, June 30th. They have become expert at providing digitized activities and interactions with our students. Unfortunately we have been informed that the City will NOT support the Summer Camp. This adds another layer of trauma to our parents, the children and Imani House.

For over 23 years Imani House has operated in our community. We have waded through numerous obstacles but I can assure you that we're not going anywhere. We're a tough organization and we understand what it means to persevere.

That being said, the pandemic has undeniably hurt our organization and drastically depleted our financial base.

Please contribute whatever you can afford to assist. We look forward to your generosity being the platform that we continue to stand on to build a better community for all of us. Thank you.

Summer is Fast Approaching, Camp Imani Needs You!

CAMP Imani Kids

Summer is approaching again, and CAMP IMANI 2020 needs all the contributions we can get. Your support and assistance AT ANY LEVEL is very important!

With your help 135 or more inner-city children will be able to participate in:

Archery
Culinary Arts
STEM
Visual Arts / Painting and other Arts and Crafts
Dance
Karate
Sports
And much more!

Through your support our children will be in a safe space, learning good sportsmanship, sharing, anti-bullying, coping skills, investigative science, team building and participating in a variety of activities supporting their social, emotional, physical and academic success; all while having a summer experience they will never forget!

In addition, besides benefits for our youth participants, parents also benefit immensely from our program as it gives them a trusted environment for their child/ren that enables them to work to support their families.

Your support towards CAMP IMANI 2019 was invaluable and enabled us to make it a success, serving our youth with life changing programing, support and care and we definitely need you to make this year's CAMP as succesfull.

CAMP IMANI's main goal is to provide services which assist our youth with their overall development and provide Summer activities that every child should have an opportunity to engage in. Summertime for children should be about fun, but for many it is not. Parents have to work and many face financial difficulties disallowing children from frequently participating in stimulating summer activities. As we know, lack of activity and engagement during summer (especially) leads to a high level of youth deliquency. CAMP IMANI is the perfect distraction and offered our children not only fun, but played a major part in their improved behavior as well.

We look forward to having you join us. Please spread the word and share this update with your friends and family as " It Takes A Village to Raise a Child". We need to grow our "Village" and it starts with YOU!

Support to Full-Day Summer at CAMP IMANI (13562)

Greeting Loyal Supporter and Followers!

Complements of the season to you all! As the year 2019 is coming to a successful end, our Fall/Winter activities are in full swing. Thanks to your kind donations received, we continue to offer our participant the very best we can. It only by your helping hand, we are able to do so much. With your gifts we are able to carry over of our STEM projects to the fall and winter.

Our team continue with many of the activities of the summer, such as trips, athletics, dance, music, archery. However, due to the cold winter weather we have moved to more indoor activities. One of the recent trips was a trip for the children to the bowling alley, where some of the children got to try their hand controlling a bowling bowl, to knock down the pins... Although we are observing a mid-winter recess, we look forward to an exciting new year of program.

A very nice “Family Night at the Movies” was held for the children and their parents. The parents assisted to organize the event, and contributed a nice menu of food and snacks that were sold before, during intermission, and after the movie to offset some the expenses for future planned trips and cultural activities.

Many of the activities of the summer, are academic base but not totally. We have 135 kids enrolled to entertain and more importantly, to teach skills that will give them a more rounded life as grow older. As you know we are a cultural enrichment options that we continue to offer children of the inner city exposure to the arts and dance that they would not normally be exposed to. The participants will have a chance to display their skills learned in Winter Recital coming up at the end of January. The recital will include children performing modern dance, karate, steel pan solos, archery, and singing to name a few activities. To be able to do that we have hired specialized instructors to give the children the best opportunities to gain a taste if new skills from their classes. Your support made all this possible! Please remember IMANI HOUSE as charity whose cause can be supported and promoted.

Since this is a joyous time of the year for gift giving and merriment the children received small gifts of toys and food during their recent Christmas party. What better way to celebrate the children's achievements, and to welcome in the New Year! Some of the many other activities are further detailed in our Newsletter is attached to this report.

On that note, I would like to close this update and take the time for the IMANI HOUSE management and staff to once again, to wish you, our friends and supporters, very Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza, and a Prosperous, Healthy New Years! Hope to see you in 2020 with another exciting update!
