Hello Friends of Imani House:

We are wishing you a very very Merry Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!!

Thanks so much for all your support in the past. It has been really appreciated and put to very good use."It Takes a Village to Raise a Child" and as part of our community we recognize your importance. YOU are part of Our Village!! We could not do it without you!

As reported last, our 2018 Summer Camp was a smashing success!! Your contributions assisted in making it so and our children and their parents benefitted immensely. Children participated in archery, dance, weekly trips, activities to get them academically ready for the new school year and much more! Not only that, but their parent/s benefitted too by having a safe supportive environment for their children while they worked.

Preparation for 2019's Summer Camp is already underway and we have alot of exciting activities planned! For the upcoming year we are looking to you to help us accomodate additional kids in the program. The 2018 Camp which catered to 135 innercity children had a wait list of over 100 more children than we could take, but due to funding constraints we could not accomodate everyone.

Therefore with your assistance we would like to accept an additional 25-50 children into the Camp for 2019. We wish we could help EVERY child that could benefit from our services, but unfortunately we cannot. Your assitance though could make a difference and that is our aim as an agency- to make a difference in the lives of those we serve through any means neccesary. Please join us in these efforts and continue to work with us to help those less fortunate.

CAMP IMANI 2018 Update

Roller Skating Fun!

CAMP IMANI 2018 was a smashing success! Thanks for your involvement and support. If you were unable to join us this year, there's always next summer!

This year 135 Brooklyn children grades K-5 from low-income backgrounds joined us for a summer filled with engaging activities including trips, music classes, archery, arts and crafts, literacy and much more. We accomodated as many children as we could, but unfortunately there was still a wait-list for those unable to participate. Maybe with your help we can provide the Camp for 200 children next year!

CAMP IMANI's main goal is to provide services which assist our youth with their overall development and provide Summer activities that every child should have an opportunity to engage in. Summertime for children should be about fun, but for many it is not. Parents have to work and many face financial difficulties disallowing children from frequently participating in stimulating summer activities. As we know, lack of activity and engagement during summer (especially) leads to a high level of youth deliquency. CAMP IMANI was the perfect distraction and offered our children not only fun, but played a major part in their improved behavior as well.

Parent feedback of the CAMP overwhelmingly supported the work we did with the children, and many parents called or visited our office at program end to express their gratitude. For many, without our program they would have to find other childcare in order to maintain their employment, which is a financial burden; or perhaps take off of work. CAMP IMANI therefore provided our community services benefiting not only the children, but parents and families as well, even if indirectly. We are very proud of that and you should be too!

It's never to late to join us in these efforts!

Imani House Summer Camp 2018

Since April 2018, planning for another unforgetable CAMP IMANI experience for our children has been underway! We have so many exciting activities planned for the kids with the expectation that their summer will be full of social and emotional development; and of course lots of fun!

For the majority of our participants, whom come from low-income backgrounds, their parents still have to work during the summer, or finances are limited. This prevents many from taking trips or participating in activites to keep them stimulated and out of trouble. In addition, the average NYC Summer camp is quite costly. BUT CAMP IMANI IS TO THE RESCUE!!!

We believe during the Summer all children deserve to play, build friendships, and learn new skills and lack of opportunities (time, finances) should not prevent that. So for our 6th year we are providing our community with those opportunities in the form of CAMP IMANI!

CAMP IMANI, which will begin on July 5th, 2018 will provide many opportunities for 120 children grades K-5 to explore their creativity and interest, make new friends, learn important team building and social skills, stay abreast of academics and much more! Specific activities include archery, sports, trips, dance, creative writing & story telling and movies.Please Join us in providing these services to those who need it most!

Studies have shown that a happy child is more likely to succeed, have high self-esteem, develop their leadership abilities and be more willing to help others. These are attributes our children desperately need! We can make a difference!

Summer is quickly approaching so we hope you keep Imani House in mind when you think of your giving. Thank you in advance! We appreciate your support.
