As we continue to fight the violence against women and girls, Centre Marembo takes this opportunity to introduce the project of reintegration of 6 teen mothers who have been living in the center since 3 years of being in our program of rehabilitation and capacity building. The 6 teen mothers are the first group of CM to be moved into the community since we committed to care for teen and pre-teen mother in 2013. The center needs them to start their own lives, face challenges with our assistance.
Teen mothers reintegration needs to carefully processed given that they need particular care and follow up. It is challenging to reintegrate them in their families, given their life conditions of motherhood and their affecting background that relates to their prior violence situation when their offenders most of the time are not identified to be brought into courts. This is why Centre Marembo opted to reintegrate them in independent living where we want to follow up them and their babies.
This project will solve the problem of dependence of the teen girls and lack of self confidence if they continue living in the facility. They will be able to participate in different programs that are put in place by the government to support the communities and learn more life skills and affect a change in their communities. The Centre will no longer be over populated as we reintegrate we free space for possible more victims who join our program.
This project will help in the long run the teen mothers and their babies settle in the life of the community, the community will take advantage of their skills and active participation in the local programs. Their babies will grow and learn in the community where they will better develop different life skills to become important community members in the future.
